Who We Are

The Gauntlet is a Skidmore College undergraduate academic journal which highlights undergraduate humanities research. It was founded and is run by the Skidmore History Club, and is peer-reviewed by club members and Skidmore faculty. This journal was started as a way for students studying the humanities to connect and learn from each other. While STEM majors have the opportunity to work with each other as lab partners or in research groups, academia can be very isolating for humanities students because of the solitary nature of our research. By sharing our work through this platform, history and other humanities majors can show their work to peers and receive feedback and support outside of a classroom environment.
